WISH I COULD GIVE IT NO STARS:
Generally, when I think of paranoid people, I think of red necks or skin heads driving their pickups loaded with guns and ammunition for that almost-inevitable day when either their neighbor or their government will be out to get them. I had no reason to believe that Mr. Cashill was one of those people when I first saw him pushing his book on C-Span. I happened to have a copy from the library (the catchy title caught my eye) but had yet to read it at that time. I quickly changed my mind within 15 minutes of listening to him on cable tv. But now, a couple of days later, I think I have changed my mind again, though I still would not be the least bit surprised to learn that he had a pickup and an arsenal. I did some internet research of my own, and what I found about Mr. Cashill is that he hates Bill and Hillary. He makes Rush Limbaugh look like a Clinton admirer. This book has nothing to do with good clear-eyed investigative reporting and everything to do with getting Bill and Hillary, and of course re-electing Bush. If he could not somehow have found a way to pin the death of Ron Brown on Clinton, or at the very least, get the reader to believe it, he would not have written this book. He could care less about Ron Brown. He cares everything about denigrating the leader of "the most corrupt administration ever in the U.S."(Huh!) This statement alone ought to warn readers about just how over the top this guy is. If you want an example of the quality of his "facts" I will give you one that actually has nothing to do with the book. On C-Span, he said that Hitler was a queer. Maybe he was. But does Mr. Cashill KNOW that! Of course not. Not any more than I know it or don't know it. Nor does Mr. Cashill know whether that hole in Mr. Brown's head was really a gun shot wound. But he sure wants you to think he knows it and he wants you to believe it too. Part of his evidence is that important people refused to return his calls. I would like to know why they would. Just what are his bona fides anyway? I am not a C-Span junkie so what happened the night that Mr. Cashill was on may happen often, but never when I have watched. It took place in a temple (I am presuming a Mormon one because of a couple of other websites I found him on, and if were a Mormon I would be outraged since I would want to distance myself from that nut case as much as I possibly could.) The audience was filled with people he knew on a first name basis, and perhaps only with those people. I guess he didn't want to have to answer any really tough questions, and counted on his friends and aquaintances to be kind. What amazed me is that C-Span allowed him this particular type of forum. Why not put him in a book store with a "thinking" crowd that feels no particular obligation to be nice to him. (...)

Say what you like. It's a free country.:
Bloodsuckers like Cashill should be grateful that this country still enjoys a free press, and that the Clintons, after all this time, have proved themselves uninterested in suing the behinds off their most vicious detractors. One wonders, given the hideous possibility of a second GWBush administration, whether such calumnies directed against, say, our information-concealing president and his cronies will be tolerated at all.

Revelations and Connections:
No matter what one's political leanings are, a discerning reader will find both the factual and theoretical information presented in this book intriguing. The author writes in a style I can best describe as clear and powerful: he does not get bogged down in over-explanation of facts, and the unfolding events leading up to Secretary Brown's death read like a gripping suspense novel...except these events are well-documented NON-fiction. The author's exhaustive research and hours of interviews with the people in Ron Brown's world are thoroughly documented. As I read what had happened in the years prior to his death, I made my own connections and theories. The author, Mr. Cashill, did not preach, and did not press theories and proposed scenarios as truth. Mr. Cashill respects the reader...respects the reader's intelligence and deduction skills. I must highly recommend this book: you will not be bored, you will find it hard to put down, you will learn a lot, what you already know will be reinforced, and you will want to talk to others about it.

One More Trip To The Barn:
I saw Jack Cashill on C-SPAN and was curious enough to review his book at my local Borders. This book is pure nonsense based on conjecture, innuendo, and with no proof. If Cashill thinks he has a case he should pursue it through the courts. If he is right and has proof (which of course he isn't and doesn't) he has the story of the century. This guy is nothing more or less than a right wing crackpot who is making one more trip to the barn to milk the Clinton conspiracy cash cow. Nice try Mr. Cashill, but the first four letters of your surname is what this book really is about........cash for you.

Jack Cashill's World:
Lemme see if I've got this right: Jews killed Christ for purposes of eradicating Christendom and establishing a Talmudic pan-Judaism. The plagues that ravaged Medieval Europe were the result of Jewish mass poisonings of Christians. As the Templars gained influence over the royalty to impose a radically egalitarian Golden Age, the Illuminati (in league with the Jacobins) instigated the French Revolution. Freemasons established the B'nai B'rith in the U.S. as a pro-slavery spy ring to provide intelligence to the Confederacy before the Civil War, and (in the form of Rosicrucians) were covertly associated with the collegiate honorarium Phi Beta Kappa (a spy organization). A European bank cabal (headed by the Rothschilds and controlled by Jews) was responsible for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in order to ensure control over the U.S. monetary supply, which in turn financed the Bolsheviks. Your parents aren't REALLY your parents, they're actually Stepford automatons implanted to indoctrinate an appearance of normalcy amongst the populace; your real parents are contained in a Matrix-like apparatus, being cultivated by the Trilateral Commission as alternate energy sources, since all natural resources will deplete within the next ten years. Oh, and let's not forget Elvis: he didn't really die, he actually faked his death so that he could anonymously prepare to rule the New World Order from his hidden installation on the moon. This, one imagines, is the world as Jack Cashill sees it, as evidenced by what's put forth in "Ron Brown's Body," a screed purportedly bent on convincing readers that the circumstances surrounding the death of the Clinton administration's Commerce Secretary reek of clandestine foul play. In this attempt "Ron Brown's Body" is constructed of the same hodge-podge of dastardly intrigue, webby association, and titillating conspiratorial supposition that provide the framework for all the above scenarios. And as such it reveals Cashill's reliance on political paranoia for finding skullduggery afoot in the doings of that eternal nemesis Bill Clinton. I'm not a fan of the ineffectual, narcissistic Clinton in the least, but Lyndon LaRouche-type conspiracy mongering such as this only works to flame already-smoldering embers of political resentment amongst the partisan true believers. On his recent C-Span appearance outlining this book, Cashill beamed quite proudly over the fact that comedian-turned-activist Dick Gregory was "on board" with his claims -- not exactly a ringing testimonial, considering Gregory summarily embraces every conspiracy-laden theory regarding the white U.S. government's attempts to "keep the black man down." In the end, with all his networking of facts and assumptions-presented-as-facts and circumstantial connections-that-could-be-facts-if-you-try-to-see-them, I'm just not buying it. If Cashill perchance gets his wish and the death of Brown does someday undergo re-investigation, perhaps he'll be proven right and I'll be forced to eat my words as presented here. But I'm not holding my breath.
