[.ca] Upgrading and Repairing PCs: A+ Essentials, 220-603, ... (ISBN 0789736705)

The book you need for pass A+ Exam:
This is an amazing book. Plain english and nice graphics that helps understand basic concepts. Clear and straight! Just useful information. Chapter's book are very well organized. It's author have divide book in two parts: Hardware and Os concepts; excellent if you're planning to take (and study) each exam separate. The book is plenty of excellents tables and CPUs specifications. Be aware! this is not a reference book; there is not enought in depth info. But its author has "Upgrade and Repair Guide" where people can learn a lot more. Next editions could be hardcover, not paperback, for better presentation and book protection.

Number 1 A+ Prep and Reference Book:
I passed both exams in October this year and owe it solely to this book. The exams had just turned adaptive from the fixed length. I took one of each. The great thing about this book is it's no nonesense truthfullness about what you need to know. It spells out in lay mans terms what chapters you need to know for each exam and what exactly is involved. I would reccommend this book to anyone as a reference work or for those taking the exam itself.

Neither a Great Study Guide nor a Reference:
I purchased this book to use more as a reference than as a study guide for A+ certification. What I discovered is that it doesn't excel as either. Sure, it covers all of the major topics associated with repairing and upgrading PCs (processors, memory, storage, motherboards, the BIOS, etc.), and I suppose it contains enough material to sufficiently prepare you for the A+ exams, but as a reference it lacks the level of detail and organization that I've grown accustomed to in other types of references. I later purchased the 13th edition of Scott Mueller's Upgrade and Repair Guide (a much larger hardcover edition) and am pleased to say that it is an excellent reference for any PC technician or hobbyist who has ever wanted to know what every component in a PC is and how it works. The study guide, however, did not impress me and I have since given it to a family member as a gift. If you want a good reference, take a look at Mueller's 13th edition. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Incredible book for passing the A+ exam:
I bought this book as a study guide for the A+ exam. This year, when i took the exams, i took the hardware in the linear format and scored a 895 (out of 900) and took the os exam in the adaptive format and scored a 1290 (out of 1300). If you want to ace the A+, GET THIS BOOK.

Excellent Study Guide:
Read the book for two weeks straight. Passed the exam with no problem. This is a must get for anyone looking to get A+ Certification.
