SHORT ON DETAIL: very disappointed, lacks steps in making repairs. slighty more helpful then the owners manual. one born every minute!
Good for simple maintenance: I bought this book to help me on restoring an 1967 Mustang. The book came weel packed but I was a little desapointed with the photos. They look very old and sometimes difficult to realize what it is.I felt also that a lot of details where resumed. But it is a good book if you want to do a simple maintenance and begin to understand how the car works.
Cougar Repair Manual: In reviewing the book, I found it to be well written, well illustrated and easy to follow. However, the fact that the book was wrapped so tightly by the shipping department that it was badly bent for about six (6) inches on the lower right hand corner over shadowed any enjoyment I may have received from the use of the book. I take care of my books being careful to not dirty or bend the pages during use and have a fairly large library of repair manuals due to this care process. The only reason the book was not returned, was that it was given to my daughters boyfriend and he figured it would be damaged in moving around.
Chilton's Mustang repair manual 64-73 ... :-(: This book is okay for some simpler repair and maintainance jobs. Use it in conjunction with some better books for any serious repairs. It leaves out LOTS of important details in many cases. I would NEVER try rebuilding your engine using this book. The pictues are grainy and can be hard to see what its illustrating. The electrical section is somewhat lacking. Try and find a used copy or borrow one. The best part about it is, IF you are working on a 71-73 Mustang, ALL the photos are of a 72 Mustang with a 302.
A Little Deceptive: I purchased this book to work on my '68 Shelby GT-350. I figured there would be a lot of information in this book on Shelbys (the car on the cover is a Shelby). I could not find any unique information on the car. The repair instructions seem very generic and somewhat vague, and the images and diagrams look like old photocopies...not very helpful. Overall, a disappointment. I thought Chilton's books were better than that.
