Registered Nurse reader: Sleeping Well is a comprehensive resource book on sleep and sleep disorders. It is an invaluable tool to have on hand in professional settings such as hospitals, doctor's offices and sleep centers. Surprisingly, due to it's easy conversational style, it is equally valuable in the home. As a professional, I use this thoroughly researched book, (with its convenient A-Z section for quick reference) to learn about disorders such as narcolepsy, sleep apnea, insomnia and restless legs syndrome, to mention just a few! As a layperson it answers my everyday questions such as "Why does my 80 year old father sleep so poorly?" "Why can't I function after losing a night's sleep?" "Is it possible to "make up" that lost sleep?" "What effect does shift work have on my policeman husband and what are possible solutions?" "How can I help my teenager get the sleep she needs and how much does she really need?" "Can my salesman brother minimize the effects of jet lag?" From bed wetting to sleep walking, from REM sleep to snoring, this book contains so much information and advice on what we spend a major part of our lives doing, that I, for one, don't know how I ever got along without it! It's reassuring to know I'm never going to be without it again. I highly recommend this book!
