From Amazon.com: Over the past 50 years, Pottery Barn has developed a reputation as a home furnishing chain with its own distinctive, elegant designs. Intended for both the serious re-modeler and the aspirational dreamer, Pottery Barn Bathrooms does a thorough job of explaining the elements that make a bathroom comfortable and stylish enough to serve as a private retreat or communal spa. Each of its ten chapters is devoted to a single subject (fixtures, lighting, color, windows). After a quick overview of basic issues related to each topic, readers are invited to tour spectacular bathrooms through luscious photos and text explaining the color palette, room plan, and materials used. While the rooms tend toward the high end in terms of materials and available space, there's a wealth of useful advice throughout that would be welcome to almost anyone looking to spice up an existing bathroom or planning to build a new one. --David Bombeck
If you like white woodwork and freestanding tubs....: My husband and I are building a house and I was looking for bathroom ideas. Well this book is for you if you like painting every speck of your woodwork white (what ever happened to natural wood? ), want a castiron or claw foot tub and are into strangeness like putting your bathtub in the living room! I guess I'm just a little too mainstream for this. Most of the ideas in this book are just way too impractical... This book pictures this hottub I guess you'd call it, that is actually a concrete box...I want a hottub in my new bathroom but I'm looking for comfort, that concrete box looks like a cold water coffin. This book also features this bathtub in the living room idea. Hmmm call me crazy but why on earth would you want to do that? Theres also pictures of an outdoor bath in a watering trough!!! I was really hoping for some ideas I could use. Silly Me!!! I'm sending this book back, there's absolutely nothing in it I can use.
Pottery Barn store: This book is like walking into the Pottery Barn store, so this should be a catalogue instead of an ideas book. Lots of white. The bathrooms are comfortable looking, but not very original. I got more out of Japanese Bath book than this one.
Just lovely: Such a lovely book. There are so many ideas and elegant ways to improve the look and functionality of a bathroom. The pictures all convey designs and ideas that I'd like to have in my own home. Thank you Pottery Barn.
Great ideas: I was worried, some of the reviews of the other pottery barn books including this one were disparaging, but I bought Living Rooms, and Storage, and I was impressed. So much so that I ran to my computer and immediately bought Bathrooms, Bedrooms, Dining rooms and Outdoor Spaces. These books are GREAT! I don't live in the USA so I can't get a pottery barn catalog to compare with the books (or as some suggest, to use instead of the books). I hoped I wasn't buying some big expensive ad for Pottery Barn. I wasn't. All the books are full of creative ideas to combine vintage pieces with other ordinary furniture that many people have. They make the end result look extraordinary and show you the steps to achieve the same results with your own stuff.(I can get a lot of similar country style stuff at IKEA for example) I'm impressed. I love this style, it's relaxed, casual and interesting. It showcases any antiques you may be lucky enough to own, and helps a person design their space to fit their own needs. The bathroom book in particular uses a lot of colour ideas, weaving them into neutral backgrounds, making it EASY and CHEAP to change the whole look of a room for seasons or for a complete change of colours and scenery. Each page is jammed with information in the text and photos, about using a space to display things at their best, choosing the right colours, balancing texture, dealing with problems. I'm delighted I bought this book and the others. I plan to get Workspaces next.
Best Bathroom Book Yet: I've looked at numerous bathroom books but found the Pottery Barn Bathrooms book to be - by far - the best! This book had lots of beautiful, simple and creative ideas, and lots of pictures. I love it and highly recommend. The book is absolutely beautiful, very high quality and a great value.
