Wonderfully Addictive!:
This is the very first book by Penelope J. Stokes I've ever read. I checked it out at the library because I was looking for something different than my usual. Honestly, I just walked up glanced through one row and the cover caught my eye. I read the back cover and the inside flaps and thought that sounds really good. I got home and started reading it and literally could not put it down. Everything in my life was basically put on hold because I was hooked. I read it in less than a day and immediately recommended it to my mother. All the other reviews have a little about the book so I'm not going to go into any detail about the story line, but I'll just say that I felt like I was in Little Am's shoes, listening and living a story that I was being told by Amethyst. It was a wonderful story with authentic historical points written beautifully. As soon as I finished telling my Mother all about the book, I got on Amazon to look for more books by Penelope J. Stokes.

SOO Cool!!!:
i just ABSOULUTLY loved this book!! i noticed my mom was just raving about this book so i stole it from her and only meant to read just that first page i open to--yeah right!!! i could not put the book down! as soon as i did, i picked it right back up! that was the first christain book i ever read. now i have every penelope j stokes book you can think of. all of them i read within 1 day each, which was right after another. after i got done reading them, it like, "now what do i do? back to realilty." i could not wait till i get the next one. i actually went to the town where she lives and met her pastor, (which is my friend's grampa) Penelope is such a talented writer. i love her style!! my mom bought this book for my grandma and my 9 year old cousin stole it from her and couldn't put it down! they're not meant for kids but they're still good.

FANTASTIC !!:
I have to agree with everyone else here who said it was a "can't put down" marvelous read! Christian fiction has come a long way since the olden days when it was a bit "hooky" and not believable -- not to mention not interesting. Ms. Stokes knows how to grab you and keep you reading!! Thank the LORD for good Christian writers!!

Amethyst Heart:
Wow!! I just finished reading Amethyst Heart. I read it in one day, it was that good. Like the main character "Miss Amethyst" with her grandmother Pearl's journals, I could not get enough of the story of her family history. Ms. Stokes has done an outstanding job of relaying to the reader the events and the emotions involved in six generations of family. The mix of throwing in real life historical characters was an added greatness to the story. Bravo! I would highly recommend this book.
