I love these books. I HATEDDDD reading wwwith a passion before i got into the madie series. These books really caught my interest. I have read books 1-7 and about to start on book 8. Madie kept my attenion the WHOLE way through the book, which i very unusual. The mandie series is set in the mountain of north carolina and since thats where i live its very cool cuz i've been there. I love the mandie books also because they all link together. The series is better if you read them in order though. And for all you people who think mandie books are "stereo type" and show "rascism" yall r \owrong\c. HELLO... :Newsflash: half of mandies family is cherokee and half is white and theyt have maids who a african american but they all love each other all the same. How could you say somebodies racial if they are half white half cheerokee, and respect both sides? Anyways, if you want a good book read these the average lenghth is 125 pgs. , if you are any age you will love reading these my mom even likes them from wut shes read, and there easy and fun to read. Just try them... you won't be able to put ythem down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The story Mandie and the Secret Tunnel is a wonderful story about a young girls adventures. Early in the story, Mandie beleives that God does not love her. She belives that only her father loves her. Unfortunantly, her father dies and she is left with only her mother and sister. Her mother and sister are not sad about the fathers death. Soon after his death the mother marries again and soon Mandie is forced to live with a new family because of money problems. Mandie moved to her new house, and hated it. She soon runs away with her Cherokee friend, Uncle Ned. Uncle Ned takes care of Mandie and treats her with love and respect. When Mandie runs away, she goes to her Uncles house. There, she meets a young girl named Polly and quickly becomes friends with her. Polly and Mandie explore the secret tunnels of Mr.Bonds house in search for Mandie's father's will. I love this book!! If your 12 or if your 16, it wont make a difference because this is such a great book for all readers. This is book one in a seris. Its all about how Mandie thinks God no longer loves or cares for her. Her father has just died and she lives with her mother and sister who are mean to her. She is sent to live with some one else to take care of their baby. She has big adventures all the time. It's a really good book and you should read it (really read it).
