This is the real thing: Not for everybody. The average gym member will be lost by all the advanced knowledge. Be warned that it is very technical and the reader should have a background in exercise physiology to fully comprehend it.
The best book about resistance training: As an exercise science major in college and an avid weight trainer, I find this book to be the definitive source for both my academic work and recreational activity. It contains a great deal of the science of weight training. I would not recommend this book to a beginner nor to someone who just works out for the hell of it. One should have substantial knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology before reading this book, as well as possess true desire to better understand the science of resistance exercise.
good source of specific strength training programs: Briefly, the most comprehensive source of strength training adaptations and programs on the market today
A definite must for trainers working in a gym setting.: This is one of the most comprehensive books on the shelves when it comes to exercise prescription and design.
