cute projects: I checked this book out from the library enough times that I decided it would be best to own it! I love the cute animal quilt projects. I've just made the sheep quilt so far. All the pattern/quilt strip pieces didn't fit together as well as I would've liked, but if you're an experienced seamstress, you can still make it/them work for you. I think the author could've done a better job with making the original cutting measurements work together without having to stretch pieces to make them fit. As I said, you can still make it work for you. These projects are all sewn in large strips, sewn together, then cut down to smaller sizes; then sewn together. So, in the end, you haven't had to cut a bunch of tiny squares; its a time saving way to sew quilts. And, everyone likes to save time. The quilt designs are adorable and true to Debbie Mum's style. If you've ever seen her calendar's, you know what I mean.
Very Easy Quilting: This book makes an excellent addition to any quilting library. It covers applique', tea dying, fabric selection, rotary cutting, and provides 10 tried and true quilting timesavers. Helpful hints for projects are sprinkled throughout the book. All of the projects include clear, concise instructions and illustrations. The projects provide exact amounts of fabric to pre-buy. The illustrations in the book are very helpful and really motivate one to experiment. This book truly takes the fear out of quiltmaking and you can easily do this as a beginner. All you need is the desire to sew the multitude of provided projects. I've made four of the projects out of the book with no difficulties and in a very short period of time. Honestly, my greatest challenge with the book has been selecting the project to start on. There's just so darn many good ones.
Quick Country Quilting: This was the first quilting book that I purchased as a first time quilter. What a great book!!! I would highly recommend this book to anyone just starting out, since the quilts are set up as smaller more managable wall hangings. Debbie's rotary cutting method is simple understand and clearly explained. I'm definately looking forward to purchasing more of her books.
For do-not-have-time quilters, it's inspirational and easy: For working women with very little recreational time available, this book truly inspires you to WANT to quilt. For young and inexperienced quilters, it's truly easy to follow, with great tips and ideas. I've just started quilting to alleviate my stress levels. The suggested patterns and time saving advice have started a whole process of lateral thinking where I can now generate my own concepts and patterns. It has enhanced my creativity tremendously and is just what the doctor ordered. I've bought Quick Country Quilting and More Quick Country Quilting. I have found that they are ideal for situations in teaching others how to quilt because it's so easy follow. What ever your style, the patterns would fullfil everyone's taste!
A fun and easy way of quilting: This book is fabulous not only for the experimented quilter but also for the beginner. The instructions are easy to follow and the photographs of the finish product as well as the setting are inspirational. Debbie Mumm took advantage of her background as a designer resulting in quilts that are perfects in every sense. Her suggested color combinations are suitable for every taste. Since I bought this book I am always looking for her books. This book should be on every quilter's library.
