I like this almost as much as the steam version. For roster info, I use Marre's Contemporary Diesel Spotters Guide 2nd Edition

Dated, But Still Useful:
This is truly a classic in the field of motive power books. Readers will find crisply printed diagrams, technical information and well reproduced pictures on large-sized pages. This is not a volume to put on your workbench as it is large. Since the content is somewhat dated; i.e. you won't find many 2nd generation units in there, I wish Kalmbach would develop and print an updated edition; I know I'd buy it. Highly recommended.

Currently the best planbook available:
If you want to build diesels from scratch, this is the best planbook you will find. There are photos, write-up and other data also! The only things it lacks, are more roster info and detail drawings of fans, lights etc, which would be helpful in model building.
