[.ca] Magus Of Java (ISBN 0892818131)

good story:
This book makes very outlandish claims, I am only twenty two years old but I have over seventeen years of martial arts experiences with over twelve years in internal arts. I would say from my experiences I have met many amazing people and many fraudulent people, the amazing people have skill and back it up with evidence of their own person, while the fraudulent people claim to be able to talk to ghosts and strike you dead with their chi but never seem to be able to deliver. Never not once however, even with the most looney out their energy warrior practitioner I've met on my travels through the east have I heard of claims like these. This guy claims to be able to slice a banana with his laser finger, whats more he says he can get in a car crash at one hundred plus miles perhour and use his chi to protect himself. It is also quite convenient for Danaos that he happened to speak perfect english. Well if all that is true than well good for him, but I have to say if you really believe any of that then your very easy to decieve, even if it were true the odds are that it is just some made up story to make money. Meaning that tommorow someone may come along and make up another big one and you buy that one as well. It is though at least a good story.

Interesting Yet Surreal Read:
I first read this book a little over three years ago after reading "Nei Kung: The Secret Teachings of the Warrior Sages," and it was rather a surreal read. I kept flipping back to the copyright page to see if it's a work of fiction, but it was not so. This book is a story of an incredible journey of the author, Kosta Danaos, who begun his quest to find and met with an internal arts master by the name of John Chang and his experiences and lessons with him. From reading this book, I thought it was too unreal to be a fact considering that Chang was able to break the laws of the physical reality. But again, it was not so because I have later seen the videos of Chang's psi abilities in action (e.g., pyrokinesis, telekinesis, and levitation), including the video of Lorne and Lawrence Blair's documentary series "Ring of Fire." The one thing that I have found quite interesting from this book is the moral discussion of karma as relating to becoming like Chang. Obtaining the powers, higher than normal, requires a great responsibility. I do agree with Chang that he does not want to create "monsters" as to why he was strict on the student selections. That made sense since nowadays a thirst for psychic powers is, in an essence, an ego boost or superiority. Also, discussions of Yang and Yin and Mo-Pai tradition are informative read. Thinking back on it now, the stories surrounds Chang reminds me a lot like Castaneda's Don Juan in "The Teachings of Don Juan: a Yaqui Way of Knowledge." Considering the fact that English was not Danaos' first language, this book is really well written and well organized. With little over 200 pages, I could not put this book down as it had enthralled my thoughts and emotions. Whether or not if it is a real story, this book is an intriguing and fascinating read, especially the stories about the "Immortals" of the ancient past, but that's just me.

This is all true stuff, for those that don't believe:
If you really want proof, I actually have seen this man and also know students of him. All the claims in the book are true and this teacher really can do what he claims. One thing is that Kosta is not respectful though because he has not paid back this sifu from what he has made from these books, not in the form of gifts, since he can't accept money. All I can say to those who don't believe and think it is not real, why would the teacher have to show you anything for, it has been a secret for thousands of years and how can you expect him to back up the claim if you can't even meet him? If you meet him one day, maybe you can see if it is true. The only way I can see a person meeting a teacher is if it is his Karma in this life, then you will meet the teacher and if you are ready. There are a lot of fakes out there, that is true and it is hard to discern the real ones these days, but all I have to say is this teacher doesn't charge money as most of my teachers that taught me haven't.

Finally - Some Answers:
I hungrily read this book. I've known these things were real, but have only been able to gather limited information, knowledge and training. As a Reiki master, I have familiarity with chi. I am treated regularly by an acupunturist who uses chi gung. Yet, before I ever read the ancient myths, I knew all these things were possible. I just didn't understand the how...until now. It helps to have read "The Holographic Universe," "The Dancing Wu Li Masters," and other books about quantum physics. I've understood what was behind this power long before someone could finally explain how to access and harness it. Kosta did a phenomenal job with this book.

A Great Spiritual Book:
Practising Neikung is as joyful as it is difficult. Kosta Danaos has added another joyful dimension to it with this book. The practitioner will find this book as instructive as it is inspirational. The lay person from the west will not believe most of it. I would encourage the average Joe to pick it up and read it anyway and know that it is 100% accurate and true. I have witnessed the power of chi and have seen and felt yogis discharging this mysterious force. I have also been to the part of the world in which this fantastic book takes place. I have been to Borneo numerous times, as my wife hails from that strange and remote wilderness and have witnessed the spiritual realities that do exist there even though we in the west think of them as fancy. I have seen oracles talk to the spirits and have seen their predictions come true and in one instance with deadly results! Danoas opens our eyes to the fact that reality is what we make it to be. He also gives us plenty of his broad-minded spiritual insights and should not be taken lightly. This book is a mysterious trip into the unknown past that gives the reader startling insight of what it is like to be human.
