From Amazon.com: In the global search for culprits and causes in the rise of terrorism, former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dore Gold shines a spotlight on a nation many think of as a close ally of the United States: Saudi Arabia. As he explains in Hatred's Kingdom: How Saudi Arabia Supports the New Global Terrorism, Gold believes that the Saudi government is greatly influenced by the Islamist sect known as Wahhabism and, he explains, that influence has lead to Saudi support of terrorism in the Middle East, Europe, the United States and around the world. The historical portion of Gold's argument, where he traces the emergence of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and the changing face of Saudi leadership, is admirably extensive and detailed. His modern research is a little more uneven, relying on statements by various Muslim clergy members, letters to the editors of newspapers, opinion pieces, and other evidence that is rarely damnable. Curiously, mentions of Israel and the long-standing Arab-Israeli conflict are much more infrequent than one would expect from an Israeli diplomat and scholar. But regardless of one's opinion of Gold's research or his alarming conclusions, the book offers something not often found in modern political nonfiction: a coherent structure, exhaustive research, and a clear and consistent perspective on the ongoing threat of terrorism. --John Moe
Well researched and not "cheap propaganda": This book is a well researched and accurate picture of much unpleasantness in Saudi Arabia. It does have a point of view, but 50 years of Arabs trying to kill off Israelis will give an Israeli an "attitude," even if they are an accomplished scholar. I want to address an earlier poster who claims this book is propaganda and that mentions the Jews of Spain fleeing to Morocco "where they live to this day." The vast majority Jews were forced out of Morocco after the Six Day War, having their property seized as well. They were even forced out of remote areas such as the Atlas Mountains of Morocco where they had lived for over 900 years. The posted message that called this book propaganda, is itself, propaganda - and with no scholarship to back up its outlandish claims.
Saudi's "Deal With the Devil" & How it affects us...: First off, this is a great book. Well written and a quick, interesting read. I was aware that radical Islamic terrorists are often tied to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I didnt really understand why. This book tells you why, and how: Wahhabism. Wahhabism and the "deal with the devil" that the Saudi Royal family made with this radical islamic sect is explained in detail. Wahhabism is at the heart of Islamic Terrorism. Wahhabism is, for all intents and purposes, the "State Religion" of Saudi Arabia. Inexhaustable footnotes are evidence of the research done by the author and they provide a great source for further reading on both sides of the issue. The author helps to explain how this brand of Islam sees the rest of Islam and the world, and how Osama Bin Laden & Al Queda are affected by their belief in Wahhabism. The source material is openly referenced and easy to follow up on. This book tells a scary story. Without intending to do so, it may also provide another reason why the USA needed Iraq to be "free": The USA NEEDS to get out of Saudi Arabia, and they need a another country in the region (Iraq?) to operate from. An excellent book.
If only it had been required reading for Bush and Rumsfeld: This book should be required reading for anyone who thinks that it will be an easy task to create a Democratic government in Iraq (or any Middle Eastern nation.) It provides a superb understanding of the Middle Eastern Male mind and distinguishes Wahhabism particularly. Without reading this book it is not possible to really understand what is happening now or is likely to happen in the Middle East. Those of us who are not Muslim have a lot to gain by reading this book. Keep in mind the author's prejudices, but give him credit for his research.
Hatred's Kingdom: How Saudi Arabia Supports the New Global T: Written by a former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations (1997-1999), this text for the general reader aims to uncover the links between the nation of Saudi Arabia and ideological terrorism. Gold argues that the current wave of global terrorism has its roots in Saudi Arabia's dominant religious creed, a radical offshoot of Islam known as Wahhabism. He further contends that the Saudis have provided both manpower and financial support to terrorists
Well researched "cheap propaganda" by IDF: The reader from Anywhere, USA writes a total contradiction. That reader states that Jews who lived in Morocco for over 900 years (contradicting him/herself, after they escaped genocide from Spain) were forced out of Morocco. How does that reader explain the millions of Moroccon Jews who still live in Morocco today and consider it home?!!!!!!!!!!
