From Amazon.com: The Life of Moses, by the French poet Edmond Fleg, collects scriptural, midrashic, and talmudic stories about its eponymous hero, in a brief, driven narrative that stands as a classic of 20th-century religious literature. Fleg's psychological and physical descriptions are more detailed than the Bible's. Although Fleg may at times exceed the rights of poetic license, he never falls into the error of making Moses a mere foreshadowing of Christ. His descriptions of the 10 plagues and of Moses' death are especially dramatic and moving; they provide one of the most human realizations of Moses' life ever written. --Michael Joseph Gross
