The Best Gift: I gave these books to my mother and my husbands mother for mothers day! They are a great way to leave a part of themsleves to my little girl! My next step is to give one to my grandmother! They had such amazing lives, immagrating, witnessing tidal waves, rasing 17 children alone when your husband dies!! I never want these stories to be forgotten! This is how not to forget!
Priceless: I bought this book when it first came out in the 80's. My grandmother's life was always a mystery to my family. She never wanted to talk about it. This book helped her to realize that her life was important to us. The prompts were gentle and slowly she opened up to each question. Her story has helped us all to understand what she experienced. This book asks the gamit of geaneology questions and covers what we may not have thought about asking on our own. It has become the source for many a class project as our family trees are an ever famous topic through the various grade levels. This has been a way for my children to get to know their great grandmother and obtain the information from her first hand. It has made us realize the importance of obtaining one for each generation of the family.
Gracious gift for new Grandmas: What a charming "do it yourself" story about my family, my thoughts and my memories. Judith Levy helped me to tell my story to my grandchildren in a pleasant and easy "complete this sentence" format. Now, whenever a friend of mine becomes a first time grandma, I gift them with a copy of Grandmother Remembers. this book is a winner!
A great way to shut up the old lady!: This book is terrific, especially if you have one of those grandmas that just babbles on and on, like some crazy bum in the subway. First of all, it will take her many, many silence-filled days to answer the billion questions in it. (You might even want to suggest that she fill the book out behind a closed door, for some "peace and quiet"...she won't realize that you mean YOUR peace and quiet!) But the best part is that after she's done, the gift keeps on giving and giving (to you). That's because every time she launches into some stupid old story, you can just cut her off by saying something like "Yeah, yeah Grandma, I remember that story...I read alllll about it in that book you wrote me! Say, this growing boy is gettin' kinda hungry, how about goin' into the kitchen and whippin' up a little something?" Works every time! By the way, you might even want to consider buying the book with her credit card...that way it don't even cost nothing!
A Treasure for Every Grandchild Who Loves their Grandma: I bought this book in 1983 for my Grandma to fill out for me. Now that she has passed on, this book is a priceless, timeless gem, and a gift to me, as well as to my own children to pass down the stories, family tree, insight into the times when my Grandma was young, and is a great source of comfort for me. If you are a Grandma, buy the book and give this gift to your grandchild. It will make so much of a difference. It is a treasure that keeps alive everything you loved, what happened during each stage of your life, and will be treasured by any grandchild who treasures you. I HIGHLY Recommended this book for its timeless comfort and memories. It is a genuine gift in all regards. Barbara Rose, author of 'Individual Power' and 'If God Was Like Man'
