[.ca] The Furniture of Gustav Stickley: History, Techniques, ... (ISBN 094193635X)

Measurements are difficult:
I found that the material cutting list was inconsistent with the measured drawings in the book. If you buy this book, be sure to make your own drawings and cutting measurements prior to cutting. It seems that the authors have not either tried to build from their plans or have not checked closely the measurements. The book has some very good projects...just be aware of this problem.

Fine book:
Excellent book describing how to build authentic mission style furniture. The designs are classic, much better than the slop in "Arts & Crafts Furniture You Can Build". The first project, a simple mirror, is classic. Highly recommended.

Although not perfect, probably the best available so far:
I am delighted that this book is somewhat dated because I want to build the furniture as close to the original as possible. I don't want to use biscuits for joints if Stickley used dowels.I rate this book four stars rather than five because I want to build a couch, which isn't included in the book, and must design my own using the other projects as guides. Also, the technique for constructing the spring padded seat or seat cushions isn't much help. Though I strive to be a purist in construction, times have changed and it isn't possible for me to run down to the local spring store of my small town to purchase springs to attach to the seat webbing. Perhaps springs can still be found in upholstry supply stores of the larger cities. In my copy of the book the measurement errors seem to have been corrected. If it were possible to award another half star, four and a half would be my rating. All-in-all, it's a mighty fine book and I highly recommend it.
