Solid overview of the ADHD label & practical holistic help: Dr. Block has put together an insightful analysis of the roots of the epidemic of ADD/ADHD labeling, while offering proven effective interventions for people seeking to address the causes that produce the symptoms associated with those labels. There are many physical, emotional, and environmental factors that contribute to inattentiveness and hyperactivity. Common discipline methods and drug treatments often aggravate these underlying imbalances and stressors, even if they temporarily create conforming/compliant behavior. While this book has improved on the scope of the author's previous book "No More Ritalin," I'd like to see a further expansion toward examining emotional and subtle energy factors that relate to ADD/ADHD symptoms, as these interact with biochemical/environmental factors addressed in the present book. Unfortunately, there are many parents and caretakers who are unwilling to make changes in their current habits of feeding, nurturing, and disciplining children. The more healthy options that can be presented, the better, since this increases the chances that parents and educators will try some beneficial approach. Dr. Block has done a solid job of exposing the fallacies and negligence of the established medical paradigm surrounding the ADD/ADHD issue.
our children do not need to be drugged to be helped: Dr. Block's book "No More ADHD" is similar to her book "No More Ritalin" in content. "No More ADHD" is an excellent book that is easy to read and understand. The author reveals that things such as hypoglycemia/low blood sugar, allergies and sensitivities often cause ADHD-like symptoms. This book is very important because it shows that our children do not need to be drugged to be helped and that there are alternatives.
No More ADHD - Two Thumbs Way UP!: As a Youth Specialist I have read many many books on ADD/ADHD. Dr. Mary Ann Blocks book, No More ADHD is by far my favorite. Dr. Block provides great insight into ADD/ADHD and her 10 steps are easy to follow. I have recommended "No More ADHD" to thousands of parents who are looking for Real Solutions. Is your child (1) very bright, (2) Athlectic, (3) Artistic or (4) a born leader? If so, I strongly suggest you read Dr. Block's book today. Do you feel your child has a "Mental Disorder"? If your answer is "No" read Dr. Block's book "No More ADHD" today.
Lacking in substance: There is nothing new in this book that other books have. I need strategies to help my child be a productive citizen, not feel guilty that he has a disability.
Controveral Subject: This subject is very controveral and Dr. Block offers an excellent argument AGAINST ADHD's existence. I found it difficult to maintain interest in the book, to realistically adopt her recomendations and have not completed it.
