Any plans for Stitch 'N Bitch 2??: I got this book after seeing an interview with Debbie Stoller on the Today show and have had many hours of knitting pleasure since. The instructions are clear and have helped me to advance my skills. I'd say I'm an intermediate knitter now after reading this book. This book is a great resource for deciphering the cryptic abbreviations in patterns and introduced me to the extremely cool technique of illusion knitting. The patterns are fresh, but not too young. I'm in my early 30s and I've made several patterns for myself, along with items for family and friends. I have not found that the patterns ran small as was noted in other reviews. I found that the patterns seem to be pretty true to the measurements given as long as your gauge is consistant. As with any pattern, you should always do a gauge swatch. I know it's tedious, but it saves you the heartbreak of frogging a piece you've spent hours on. I'd love to see a second (third, fourth) collection of patterns from the contributors to this book. It's so hard to find patterns that aren't intended for grannies or infants. I've also given this book several times as a gift to both beginning knitters and to more advanced knitters looking for interesting patterns. This makes a great gift when paired with the supplies for one of the patterns that reinforce the basic lessons taught in the book. Happy knitting everyone!!
Greatest Knitting Book Ever!: If I could give this book 6 stars I would. This is the best book you could possibly pick up if you want to learn to knit, and the patterns are easy to follow and very fun to make. Two thumbs way, way up.
Great patterns and informative writing.: I'm an intermediate knitter and I bought this book for the great patterns but was very impressed by the way it was written. It's easy to understand and offers tons of information. I have several knitting books, but this is the one that I refer to when I have questions. It's an excellent investment and is great for all levels of knitters.
Great book!: I am a new knitter, and bought this book from the great reviews that it received. I recommend this to any first-time knitter. The projects are simple and oh-so-much-fun!! As many people have already said, the directions are not always very clear. I had to redo a project three times until I figured it out. Useful patterns that you can have fun with by mixing up the colours!
An instructive, original and highly entertaining book: I love this book. I am a beginning knitter and this book has been very helpful to me - it is easy to follow and I have been able to try new techniques simply by following along with the pictures and instructions in the book. Each pattern describes the skills needed so you'll have a good idea as to how hard each pattern is before you get going. Plus, this book is so much fun to read!! I found her writing style and this book to be absolutely refreshing.
