The Low Iodine Diet Cookbook: As a patient who was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and had to go on the low iodine diet to complete my treatment, I found this book to be a complete saivor. Our hospital gave us information to prepare for the diet however it was very unclear. This book outlines the diet by explaining why you have to go on it, what foods are allow and which aren't very clearly. More importantly, it has a wealth of wonderful recipies which makes this dreadful diet as manageable as it possibly could be. The book is divided into the different meals of the day, snacks, foods for kids, desserts; in otherwords everything imaginable to make your eating habits as normal as they could be. I highly reccomend this book to anyone who has to go on this diet.
The Low Iodine Diet Cookbook: This book became my Bible after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer. When I started my treatment, the only resource I had was a list of do's and don'ts from the doctors for the foods I could eat. Not satisfied with that I got online to research low-iodine food recipes and there was The Low Iodine Diet Cookbook. Wow! You certainly need to be creative when on a special diet for several weeks and Norene Gilletz did it for me. She had everything you could think of in this book even to making your own 'milk'. The basic bread recipe I've made several times and will continue to make that after the LID Diet. Everything in the book I felt was 'safe' to eat while on this regimen. My thanks and best wishes to Norene Gilletz.
