A Layperson's view of a Book for a Rare Disease Amyloidosis: When I first picked up the book I was afraid I would be intimidated and not understand. I was happily mistaken. Anyone who has walked the journey of amyloidosis will understand that this book is filled with food and nourishment for the information starved brain of victims of amyloidosis and their families, friends and care givers. We owe the doctors and researchers who contributed their time and effor to this book more than a simple thank you. We must support their on going efforts to eradicate this disease and other rare diseases so that amyloidosis does indeed become " a treatable nuisance" once mentioned several years ago by Dr. Vescio of Cedars Sinai. Boston, Mayo and more doctors and hospitals that can be listed here in a review are all talking to us in a language we can and do understand.
