[.ca] Chainsaws: A History (ISBN 1550173804)

Eye Candy For Men:
My wife, fearing that one day I would do myself a serious injury with my old pre-chain brake era Pioneer chainsaw, got me (with the help of one of my manly friends) a brand new Stihl for Christmas. What a woman! I have just had a long browse through this book and now know what she can get me for my birthday. This is a stunning piece of work full of exquisitely set up colour photographs (some 300) of the most amazing collection of chainsaws imaginable dating from the 1920s to the present. There are also tons of beautiful archival photos and drawings of the hey days of logging. This is one of those once seen, must have books, especially if there is any trace of testosterone in your body. You will not believe the stuff that Mike Acres and a few other obsessed guys have collected and restored. I started to scan the text and was hooked very quickly by David Lee's fascinatingly readable history. It's the kind of book that only Harbour Publishing would take a chance on and they have spared no expense on production values. This beauty would do any coffee table proud. A bargain. Highly recommend.
