A Cause: When I first started reading, I was expecting a book about medical exploits in less than medical conditions - basically MASH goes to China. What I found was a page turning story about a woman who was torn between a cause she believed in and a family she loved. A story of sacrifice and perserverence. A story of a cause, that she dedicated her life to, that later came back to bite her in the butt. I think this story can be related to by many people, on many different levels. You could be interested in Chinese history, family/worklife under communism, or just how one family tried to stay together through it all. For myself, it was the cause; who hasn't believed in something or someone, only to be left with a sour taste when reality came to light. A very good book, much more than I expected!
