Good Book: This is my first book by this author. I was pleasantly surprised. What a different take on a contemporary romance novel! How would you feel if the man you married and thought you were in love with disappeared one night while taking out the garbage? Would you believe he abandoned you, or was he hurt, kidnapped, etc.? What if, after worrying and thinking the worst, you find out you were actually married to an international terrorist? This is the basic premise of this book. Charlotte Gray's world gets turned upside down when first her husband disappears, and then to make matters worse, she finds out he is a terrorist. Finally, when Charlotte thinks things can't possibly get any worse, she is kidnapped because of her husband. I truly liked the main heroine Charlotte Gray. I found her a very believable and likeable character. I also liked the fact that she was a fighter. In this book Charlotte has to come to terms with her husband and his life, and how to not only learn to trust again but learn to love again. I would highly recommend this book.
Very Good Read..definitely a keeper: I really am enjoying reading Jasmine Cresswell's books. They are fast paced and really interesting. The characters are well developed... the storyline just picks up speed as you turn the pages. I think this author has a lot of talent and I am glad I found her. I found more books by her and am planning on reading them all. If you like romantic suspense, you will like this author. Give her a try.. more than likely you will enjoy her books. I have.
Disappointing and predictable: This is my first (and last) Cresswell book. I began it with the hopes of reading an original story and, if she could have pulled it off, using a nuclear bomb to garner American pressure to get the British out of Northern Ireland is interesting. However, I found it uninteresting and the romance was soooo predictable and so annoying. Charlotte immediately feels something for her captor and after a few hours ends up in bed with him. Finding out that he's her long lost ex-husband who is also a terrorist puts her back in bed with him. Same cookie cutter as all the other bad romances. I was so disappointed that I skimmed every ten pages until I got to the end.
Cresswell triumphs again: I'm a long time J. Cresswell fan. No one does romantic suspense as well. Dead Ringer kept me up reading long after I should have been asleep. The characters are well developed and fascinating, the plot raced along. Cresswell taps into today's news and builds a plausable story that gripped me from page one! Readers are in for a treat with this book. I bought several copies to give to friends.
A keeper!: This was at times a thriller and at times a heart breaker. I have read some of Ms. Cresswell's previous books and while they were OK I wasn't overly jazzed about them, but this one was definitely different!
