predictable: I did not like this book. The plot of this book was obvious from about the tenth page. The book was extremely predictable and not very romantic or thrilling for a supposedly romantic thriller. The author definitely uses a standard formula for writing. If you have read one Linda Howard book you do not need to read another they all follow the same format of weak heroines and over-bearing heroes who constantly get their way. Granted this book is almost 20 years old and expectations have changed over the years it is still a bad book I would have enjoyed more complex characters and a more substantive plot.
Cute Story: This was a cute story. It's your basic Linda Howard story line. (You know the one -- strong woman with a few issues and of course she can't find a man to save her life. Then enter hunky man with his own set of emotional issues.) Still the story flowed and I would recommend it to any contemporary romance fan in for a quick read. The story is basically about a burned out "workaholic woman" who is informed by the FBI that her husband was in a terrible accident. The story continues with the scenario of "is he really her husband?" "and just how far will she go to protect this man who may or may not be her husband?" Do not want to give too much away, but you get the gist of the story line. Still I enjoyed the novel - very quick and enjoyable read.
drew me in, intriguing and passionate...: even when steve was in a coma, somehow Linda Howard's book captures simmering passion between him and jay. this is a slower book to get into for some i suppose but it's worth reading on to the end, which is very gratifying.
Good Story As Always !!: White Lies by Linda Howard was a good story but then again I love all of this writer's books. If I had to choose only one of her books to recommend however it would have to be "Shades Of Twilight." I suggest anyone who enjoys getting lost in a good book READ ALL OF LINDA HOWARD'S BOOKS...THEY'RE ALL GOOD !!
Great Book!: Not one of my all time L.H. favs BUT good to see the turn Jay makes to stick with the whole story :)
