An Excellent Book on Traditional Medicine: I picked up this book mainly because of my interest in Mayan Medicine and, while the focus is on Mayan Medicine, ended up gaining a deeper appreciation for Chinese Medicine as well. This really is an excellent book on Mayan Medicine and a wonderful addition to any traditional healer's library. The book does an excellent job in explaining the the lesser known techniques employed in Mayan Medicine while offering an insightful comparison to the more popular Chinese Medicine. By weaving the 2 traditional healing styles together, one gains a broader understanding of both methods as individual therapies, as well as complimentary to each other. The translation from the original is well written and explains in much detail the different aspects of Mayan Medicine as studied by the original doctors/authors in the states of Yucatan and Campeche, Mexico. I very much appreciated the list of common diseases of the Maya as well as the medicinal plants used for treatments as it makes for a great and practical reference tool. Overall, I highly suggest this book to anyone interested in the Maya, Traditional/Folk Healing, and Natural Medicine. It's definitely one to reread over and over as you will find you will learn something new each time you read it.
