[.ca] From the Ground Up (ISBN 1560274522)

awsome awsome awsome:
I have not quite completed reading this book because it is not necesairie for my current training. I am 15 years old and a royal canadian air cadet and take some courses through my squadron so I can learn to fly an dthis is the book we use but make sure you have the rite edition I got stuck with an american addition wich is different than any other edition because the laws are differnt and the air space regulations are different other than that this has been an awsome book to study with and I suggest to use a highliter to highlight important info that you could easily reffer to another good thing is the test in the back is very helpful. Good luck.

Perfect For The Aspiring Pilot!:
My copy of "From the Ground Up" is over 10 years old, yet I will still use it as a reference if I have a basic question about something flying related. This book is the perfect companion for a new pilot starting their flight training and ground school classes. While one generally wouldn't sit down and read this book for pleasure (although I do know some very enthusiastic flight students who have!), for such a technical book, it is a surprisingly easy read. It is well laid out with numerous headings and subheadings so if you're looking to find out information about a particular technical aviation topic, it is easy to find. The book does not get into more advanced topics such as airline operations or instrument flying, or the `soft' factors such as career advice, but what is does cover is extensive. It comprehensively explains the basics for topics that all new pilots should be familiar with such as: Aircraft and Engine operations, Air Law, Meteorology, Navigation and Radio Procedures and, Airmanship. "From the Ground Up" is a great book for the new flight student eager to learn about the technical aspects of flying. James Ball Author of "So, You Want to be a Pilot, Eh?" www.piloteh.com
