[.ca] Infinite Self: 33 Steps to Reclaiming Your Inner Power (ISBN 1561703494)

OVERRATED SELF-HELP SILLINESS:
Infinite Self is presented as "Stuart Wilde's definitive work." I thought it was tripe. He makes a few good points in the middle of the book, but the beginning and the end consisted of a lot of silliness and rubbish. He advises readers to humble themselves and destroy their ego through repetitive nonsense actions intended to "show the mind who's boss." He further advises readers to flaunt the status quo by showing up for work wearing a silly costume intended to attract incredulous attention to themselves, then act stupid and say "what costume" when co-workers and supervisors ask what you think you're doing. Then he tells readers not to worry about it if they get fired, mugged, ripped-off, raped, or killed, as they surely "chose" to experience this lesson, and it is surely happening for a very good reason. Then, after all this song and dance about being at one with nature and the "God-Force" (interspersed liberally with marketing and salesmanship tips), he makes dubious claims of having acquired all sorts of mystical powers -- which YOU TOO can acquire if only you purchase each of his books and attend his seminars! Oh, this was a HOOT! The sad thing is that there are a lot of gullible folks out there who will be suckered into believing that by "letting go," getting drunk (as Wilde highly recommends), and absolving themselves of personal responsibility, they can thereby gain spiritual strength and wisdom! I gave Wilde a chance, and was very disappointed. From all the 5-star reviews I expected much more.

Good basis for creating your own philosphy.:
Many years ago I was a big fan of Stu and listened/watched many of his lectures on tape. Recently, the "Tick Tock" of the world was starting to catching up to me andi figured I needed a refreasher. Reading this book is like taking a long vacation. Use it as a basis for your own life's belief system. Read it and move BEYOND it. As much as I crave newer and more intense Wilde books, I can only assume that he is so far out there that he does not need to write it down or maybe most of us wouldn't get it anyway.

a wonderful gem!:
I have a horrible habit of never finishing books because I lose interest. However, this book broke that trend! I've lost the first copy I bought so I am purchasing a replacement as we speak. I typically don't gravitate to books regarding spirituality, but I loved that this was not another one of those books that tries ramming religious thoughts down your throat! Truly, a fantastic book.

One of the most impactful books of my life!:
This book found me by accident four years ago. I have read it countless times and it has GREATLY influenced how I approach life. I have adopted many of the principles as my own. Stuart's style is enthusiastic, irreverant, honest, straighforward, unique and not bogged down with gobbledygook and the ego centered language of a lot of other spiritual self-help books. It leaves other books of this genre in the dust. I recommend it to anyone who is open minded and sincerely wants to make progress on her or his spiritual path!!

Best Yet:
If you like Stuart Wilde, this is a must have. I have read this book twice and discove new ideas each time....it will change your life!
