Doesn't cut it: I give the author of this book a lot of credit for trying (and for a great title and catchy cover design), but as someone who has spent the better part of a decade working with high school kids, I found this book wanting. It's reasonably well-written, and offers reflections from the author's own experiences, but its insights seem a little too canned. There's a pervasive sense of trying too hard to be warm, or to be clever, or hip, or wise, and sometimes all of these at once. The more serious flaw is that the insights offered here just aren't quite tuned to the wavelength of the young people I know. That's also the feedback I've gotten from the kids who've looked at some of the chapters. There are better books out there.
