Because it combines both translation directions, it can be used in order to understand others and to express oneself. If you need more translation power, phrases, collocations etc., you will need a bigger one, but this here is good for a start, and even for a little more.

How can one buy without knowing the contents:
I am shopping for a English-German/German-English dictionary and I am not buying this one. The reason: I couldn't find a single piece of information about this book, except for the number of pages. How many entries does it have? What about the structure? What kind of cover - plastic of paper? Well, they dont want me to know, I dont want to buy.

I like the German language because it is easy to pronunce and I think this book is very good for people who want to learn how to speak German and English fluently, like me.
