[.ca] Ranma 1/2, Volume 3 (ISBN 1591160626)

Shampoo in Ranma's hair:
Just when it seems that things are going right for Ranma Saotome, they promptly go wrong again. That's the way it is with the entrance of one of Rumiko Takahashi's most popular characters, the won't-take-no-for-an-answer Amazon Shampoo. The third volume of "Ranma 1/2" has Ranma and Akane reaching a new level of interest in each other.... only to have Shampoo shatter it. The day dawns for the martial-arts skating competition, and Ranma is more determined than ever to beat womanizing Mikado Sanzenin (who gave him his first kiss in the previous volume). But Ranma is given a savage beating that almost kills him -- and soon Ryoga/P-chan/Charlotte has entered the rink, determined to beat the figure skaters as well. No sooner have Ranma and Akane gotten off the rink than a new problem arises: A Chinese girl batters through a wall, announcing "Ranma, I kill!" She's Shampoo, a Chinese Amazon whom Ranma defeated in one-on-one combat in China. Now Shampoo won't be satisfied until (female) Ranma is dead. But when she encounters Ranma in his male form, and he accidently defeats her, Shampoo falls in love with him. Now Akane is seething with jealousy, and Ranma is trying to evade a new fiancee who wants him as a guy -- and wants him dead as a girl. Even worse, Shampoo's devotion to her new "groom" extends to giving Akane selective amnesia -- she remembers everything except Ranma. Before this volume of "Ranma 1/2," the romantic problems were pretty straightforward, and the only rival was a guy who is too shy to say how he feels. But with the arrival of Shampoo, the tangled web of love starts to form -- and poor Ranma is stuck right in the middle of it. There's more romance than martial-arts in this volume, despite the long-awaited skating match. Poor Ranma is being pursued romantically by a womanizing skater and a deranged Amazon, and it's rapidly becoming a lot more than his limited skills can handle. And only Ranma could pull off a little frilly skating dress. Romantics will get a few thrills in this volume: Ranma threatens Mikado for saying that he'll kiss Akane, and later vows that he will make sure Akane remembers him. And when Akane takes her jealous frustrations about Ranma out on a straw dummy, she remembers his threat, and them gently hugs the dummy. Romantic problems get more intense in the third volume of "Ranma 1/2," with the arrival of Shampoo, Fiancee No. 2. And things only get more complex later on....

Shampoo has come!:
As with all of my manga, there are some characters that I like more than others, some that I outright despise, and others that tickle me everytime I read the books. Ranma-chan and Shampoo are those two for me in "Ranma 1/2". Ranma-chan is just so much fun--she always has some weird little prank she's pulling (usually on poor Ryoga), and she is just so cute! Shampoo, a Chinese Amazon, is wild--she has been hunting the Saotomes for months, ever since she bestowed the 'kiss of death' on Ranma-chan for beating her in a tournament. But when she catches up to the Saotomes, she is once again defeated by Ranma, only since he was a boy at the time, she gives him the kiss of marriage and declares her love! Naturally, none of the Tendos or Saotomes are especially happy with this development. Ranma manages to get her to leave, but I have the feeling she will be back...

Ranma still can't get a break(excluding injuries, of course):
Well, the time has come. Ranma and Akane are taking on Mikado and Asuza, and I still don't get tired of the scene of her whacking him with numerous objects(chairs, pillars, etc.) when she doesn't get what she wants. Ryoga interferes eventually, leading into a three-way battle between Ryoga, Ranma-chan, and the Golden Pair, and things can only get better afterwards right? Then again.... when a strange girl from China bursts in suddenly looking to kill you, I guess not! Yep, Shampoo, my second favorite character in the series, makes her debut in this issue, and it leads into even more troubles for our star. Having her trying to kill you half the time is bad enough, but when she also unknowingly wants to marry you as well?! Hmm.... maybe the marrying part isn't so bad after all ^_^. Still, seeing Akane in the way, Shampoo decides to deal with it her own way... uh oh! What do you mean you don't know who Ranma is, Akane? Ranma eventually gets her to leave, though poor Shampoo is now heartbroken! Oh well, she'll be back... in the next book! Personally though, Ryoga steals the spotlight in this book. He does some really funny stuff in it, which will have to be seen. In conclustion, I entirely recommend this volume of Ranma 1/2(the next volume's pretty good too, featuring Shampoo's return, and the introductions of Mousse, Cologne, and Gosunkugi)! Check it out!

Ranma 1/2 is awsome! -^_^-:
Volume 3 was the first Ranma manga i ever read. At first glance, I didn't think it would be any good (guess it was the skate-battle thing). but as i read farther, the story was more interesting. Ranma is no average high-schooler. He has the power to turn into a woman whenever a drop of water touches him. His uncle, Satome can also turn into a panda & Ryoga into Akane's pet pig, P-chan. Suddenly, Shampoo, a warrior from China, drops in for a visit (she's been hunting down female Ranma ever since she recieved the kiss of death). This time, male Ranma is there & fights her again;of course he won. Instead of getting the kiss of death,Shampoo falls in love with him;and reports that she must marry him by the rules of the Chinese female warriors (or something like that). Ryoga is overjoyed to hear this, knowing that it might give him a chance to have Akane as a girlfriend. But, Ranma wont hear of that. As he tries desperately to steal Akane's heart, A little bit of hope appears, when Shampoo "shampoos" Akane; ridding her of all memory of Ranma. arigato, Takahashi-san! for this outstanding manga (& anime)!

Ranma 1/2 Vol. 3 is the best:
This volume of Ranma 1/2 is great. At first, I thought that it was going to suck because the last volume wasn't that good, but this one is so funny--especially the part when Shampoo comes through the wall wanting to kill Ranma. It all started when Ranma was in China and Shampoo gave him the kiss of death, since that day she's being trying to kill him. I am really looking forward to reading the next volume.
