[.ca] Rave Master Volume 1 (ISBN 1591820642)

Interesting, Entertaining Manga:
Rave Master is the story of Haru Glory, a 16 year old kid living on peaceful Garage Island. His father left the island when Haru was just a child, and his mother died shortly thereafter. He was raised by his sister Cattleya, whom he trains daily to protect. Once a mysterious old man comes to the island, Haru's life changes dramatically. Soon, he finds himself the target of attacks by the sinister Demon Card, a group dedicated to evil using the Dark Bring, stones of great power and malice. He becomes the unlikely and unwilling weilder of the power of the RAVE, the only stones powerful enough to stop Demon Card and Dark Bring. Armed only with a strange guide dog, Plue, and a RAVE powered sword called the Ten Commandments, he sets off to find the other four RAVE stones, and stop Dark Bring once and for all. Highly entertaining and interesting manga. I read this volume and was immediately hooked on the series. With Haru's sword having ten different, powerful forms, you want to keep reading to see what form he uses next. This book ends on a cliffhanger, so after you finish with it ,you have to run out and find the next copy to see what happens to the hero. Highly recommended.

Buy me!!:
Ahhh, yes. Okay I'll stop acting weird now. Rave master is the first of the mangas Ive read in years that makes sense. The storyline is simple. Haru has been living on Garage island, the average out of the way island. He has lived with cattelya, his sister, nakaima,a flower/sun thingy, and Gemma, who can laugh whenever, whereever, and forever.that changes when he finds plue, a little creature called Rave bearer. And Demon card comes and litteraly destroys the town. And haru meets up with a guy named shiba, who tells him he can punch through12 foot thick brickwalls, jump 50 feet in the air, and use the legenday ten powers sword. I wont ruin the ending, but it is a great book.

Adventure at it's most... generic...:
As I read Rave vol.1 I could visualize Hiro Mashima intensely studying a book titled, "How to emulate Shonen Jump comics for fun and profit!" Here's the plot. Scrappy kid and cute sidekick go off to search for magical dingus and... That's pretty much it. There's really NOTHING special here to set this book apart from all the other titles out there. It's not bad, it's just so... average. And don't get me started on the art. Despite some original touches here and there (such as the designs for Plue and Nakajima) the comic looks like a watered-down copy of One Piece.
