Let's add a little honesty to marketing: Dave Balter is the founder of BzzAgent, a marketing firm that works over the Internet, harnessing the power of the 'bzzagents' -- average people around North America who want to talk about products. This book is essentially the story of the first three years of the company. No, the ideas in "Grapevine" are not terribly revolutionary. Yes, it is written in a breezy, anecdotal style, but the anecdotes have been gleaned from 3 years of a successful marketing business that has 100,000 volunteers from around North America talking about their clients' products. I am one of those volunteers. I am a bzzagent, and my goal here is to share my honest opinion of this book with the public. I am a bzzagent because I am interested in marketing, and the power that advertising has over us. I like the concept of BzzAgent because it is by nature honest, and in many ways, natural. As a new approach to marketing, the word-of-mouth method outlined in "Grapevine" is a pleasant alternative to marketing pseudo-blogs and publicity stunts.
Word of mouth bzz the market place: Grapevine is a wonderful example of word of mouth marketing. It uses real examples of products, most people know about. I really enjoy the reports that bzz-agents wrote. I think anyone that is in marketing, big or small will benefit from reading this book.
