A beautiful love story and Scotland, too!: "The White Rose of Scotland" by Audrey McClellan is an interesting, exciting love story, continuing the characters and themes of her first book, "Westering Home." I love things Scottish and have been to Scotland several times. Audrey captures the beauty of this country and its people. Her characters are interesting and realistic. The book is full of information about today's Scotland. The reading of this book is fast and leaves one wanting more! I wonder if there is a third book. I need to know more about what happens on the small Hebridean island of Eilean Dubh! I want to go to one of the ceilidhs on this island, hear the music, and participate in the Scottish Country dancing!
The Island of Love Off the Coast of Scotland: The island of Eilean Dubh must be a wonderful place to live because it is filled with romance, sex, and love. "The White Rose Of Scotland" takes us to that island and shows how the island draws people in, and how the islanders handle the loves of their past, the romantic opportunities of their present, and the big dreams of their future. A wonderful glimpse into Scottish life, Scottish love, and Scottish lore.
A wonderful and highly enjoyable yarn: The haunting sequel to the love story "Westering Home," The White Rose Of Scotland continues the ongoing romantic relationship between Jean and Darroch, as well as the interply with their friends caught in conflicts, dreams, and one couple's hope of becoming folk music stars. Set on the peaceful island of Eilean Dubh, also called the Dark Island, The White Rose Of Scotland mixes the feel of Scottish day-to-day life in its interplay of hopes, goals, triumphs and setbacks. A wonderful and highly enjoyable yarn, recommended with as much enthusiasm as "Westering Home."
