Excellent overview: I found this a good positive overview of schizophrenia from the patient's perspective. For once a medical professional and video that doesn't deny the side effects of the medication! I liked the fact they did not show schizophrenics as homeless and beyond hope. These people focus on the things you can do with the illness and to manage the illness. They talk about how to prevent becoming sick a second time. They do not go into great detail, but they go into more detail than other videos I've seen on the topic. As a schizophrenic myself, I find I have to preview all visual material to see if I can relate to it, before sharing it with family and friends. This is a video/DVD I can share with them unhesitatingly. It is full of good information. It is also good for opening up communication between the patient and family/friends. I used it to facilitate a discussion with my husband that turned out to be extremely fruitful. I have drawn up my own Early Intervention Plan as a result of watching this video/DVD. As you can tell, I highly recommend this video. The only thing it doesn't do is go into depth on the type of diet schizophrenics should be following. But it isn't meant to. It's meant as an overview of the disease, not a comprehensive guide to it. For further help I'd actually head towards books on anxiety, like Bourne's books "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" and "Beyond Anxiety and Phobia". Anxiety is closely aligned with the disease.
