[.ca] All Things Bright and Beautiful (ISBN 1593975457)

a charming series:
I read these books when I was younger and last summer I went to Yorkshire, England. I was surprised to find that the locals actually spoke they way they did in the book. I never met anyone quite as amusing as the characters in this book, though. I re-read this book and found myself laughing out loud almost every chapter. This book is well-written and very amusing. I recommend this book to people of all ages.

Changed My Life.:
All Things Bright and Beautiful is a fantastic book that had a curious effect on the direction of my life. This sequel to Herriot's best-selling "All Creatures Great and Small" continues the true, autobiographical adventures of the author as an English countryside veterinarian. I had just read his first book and dove right into this second one, absolutely convinced as a teenager that veterinary medicine was my destiny. But by the end of this second book, Herriot helped me realize that while I loved animals, I wouldn't be happy as a vet. The odd hours, inevitable disappointments, and requirement to frequently and literally go elbow deep into places I'd rather not, caused the realization that petting a warm and fuzzy pet and fixing a sick and slimy farm animal are two entirely different propositions. One measure of a book's merit is its power to change lives. This one has such power, for which I'm eternally grateful. -- Christopher Bonn Jonnes, author of Wake Up Dead and owner of 3 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 horses.

Book assignment on a great book!:
This is a really great book and the only biography I've really ever liked. It's about a guy (James Herriot) who is a country vet. This has stories about his work at a pet show, him when he's trying to court his future wife, and it has a lot about the personalities of the animals he treated. It also has a lot of his blunders, like when he got drunk (accidentally, I think) and went out to a farm. The people there were really religious, and he found out the next day the despised drinking! He didn't go out there again. All in all, it was a really good book, and I recommend it for any animal lovers or future vets out there.

An Ok Book:
All Things Bright and Beautiful By: James Herriot The book is about a man named James Herriot. He lives in Darrowby,England and has a wife named Helen. He is a veterinarian who works on farm animals. He is a very nice person and cares for the animals and the people as well. As a writer he only writes about the things that happen to him. He has written several books like All Creatures Great and Small, and The Lord God Made Them All. He lives in a hilly area and his house is on a hill One experience he has that shows compassion, is an old dog named Jacque. Jacque is a dog who chases cars. Then one day he gets a wife and they have puppies. The pups start to over throw him. Until one day, the owner sold the puppies to different people. Then the dog did not feel old so James was glad. James showed compassion for Jacque by being concerned for him because, the dog's where running faster then him and he was afraid that the dog would feel that he was becoming unnoticed. Another experience is when he is going to a field to deliver a lamb deliver a lamb. He has to go find the lamb then they went to get the lamb out. But the lamb gets stuck he try's to get it out but it dies. Then he gets a lamb that is an outcast. He skins the lamb of the dead animals and puts the skin on the outcast so the mom thinks he is her lamb. And the mom accepts him. James shows compassion towards others. He is a great person in the book and is an understanding man. He cares for the animals and the animals care for him. So it is a mutual fulfilling relationship. I recommend this book to people that wish to go in to the veterinarian business, because it talks about how to do different technique
