Interesting book on Gambit play:
Gambit Play by Angus Dunnington is an interesting book. The author has several game selections that illustrate the use of gambits for; Time, Open lines, The Initiative, Outposts, Distruption and Structure. Many of the games feature icons from the world of Chess including Anderssen (my personel favorite), Morphy, Kasparov, Kramnik, Fisher, Tartakower, Spassky etc.. I find the annotation very clear and concise. The author gets his point across and there are many diagrams to help along the way. This book is not intended to be an book on exact openings but does show how to gain compensation for giving up a pawn or two early on. The final chapter of the book has several miniature games that are instructive and very entertaining. In closing, I am not an chess master and feel that this book is very valuable for someone of my level. I would be intersted to see what a more experienced player thinks of this work.
