Mystery Thriller, but not much information about Diana: This book started out with some horrible writing, but after getting thru the first couple of poorly written chapters, I was hooked on the premise and the plot, and stayed up late finishing the book. Ex-CIA agent and his almost identical sister run an international operation to help people disappear and start a new life with a new identity, with the story about the latest client, Princess Diana, in a scheme which parallels the final public days of the real Princess Diana. Unfortunately, although the book was interesting to read, the story did not tell very much about Diana as a person.
Interesting premise, but....: This book was poorly written, and the characters shallow and trite. The book was based on an interesting premise, however, just poorly executed.
Interesting idea, horrible book: This is, by far, one of the most poorly written books I've ever read, and I resent those of you (apparently friends of the author) who wrote glowing reviews. I want my money back.
INTRIGUED: Intrigued. Amazed. The concept is possible. All of these emotions crossed my mindset after reading Whose Death in the Tunnel. The concept is almost beyond the bounds of reality. But, in today's world, nothing is impossible. My imagination is taking me beyond the story. Aaron Becker obviously has some insight that has allowed him to embellish this sensational story. I enjoyed the descriptive European flavor and the fresh concept of the plot, fiction based on fact.
A Great Read: The melancholy style of the first pages juxtaposed against and the action packed progression of the story itself intensified my fascination with this book. The plot accurately follows Diana's activities during the last year of her life and suggests that Diana's "death" was not a mere accident. This story is not an account of Diana's life. Instead, it is a spell binding, action driven plan for Diana to change her identity. The complex characterizations of Adam and Elizabeth, the individuals who organize and carry out this plan for Diana, make me wonder if they are real people instead of fictional creations in the author's imagination. The characterization of Jennifer as self-centered and conniving made me feel as though she received what she deserved. The story offers everything: brutal murder; deceit; compassion; humour; sex; insight into relationships; not to mention a great read.
