A book you can count on.: Absolutely the best all around calorie counter. Why? Because the book is small (easily fits into a purse), easy to use, updated, well laid out, and extremely complete- even has calorie counts for many major restaurants! A book you just can't beat for the price- I highly recommend it for anyone counting calories, fats or carbs. Also recommend 'The Sixty Second Motivator' for readers who have had difficulty sticking with a diet plan and "Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff" if you have a shoulder problem that keeps you from working out.
great info!: a good source of information..makes tracking what you eat fun and simple. they even had info on p.f. chang's...a favorite of mine. buy it if you want to know the truth about calories and what you are eating.
The best calorie, fat and carb book out there!: I have been using calorie counting books for years and this is by far the best and most comprehensive I have ever seen. It includes 170 fast-food chains, many of which you would never find in other calorie books. It also has a very useful index in the back, so you can find items very quickly and the book is small enough to fit easily in a purse. Very highly recommended!
Great little book!: I looked around at several calorie/fat/protein/carb books and this one was by far the best! At a price of $6.99 its the best value out there.
12 Calories for a Teaspoon of Nutmeg!: What a gem "Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter" is! This purse-sized book puts honesty into eating. Whether you eat out, or make every meal from basic, seemingly wholesome ingredients, author Allan Borushek will surprise you and help you to eat well. It bashes two myths by showing not all homemade meals are good for you, and not all restaurant foods are bad for you. Essentially, it is a group of lists. You'll see the product name, and in three columns to the right of it, how many calories, fat and carbohydrates. The strength resides in its thoroughness. It seem as if the editors came in my neighborhood grocery store and took notes, cataloguing these stats from every item. There is even a calorie count for spices (a teaspoon of nutmeg has 12 calories!), as well as alcohol (you'll find your favorites brands, plus a general list). There is a section on restaurants in general. Presuming, for example, red beans and rice is pretty much the same anywhere, we learn we'll be eating about 280 calories. Disheartening is the restaurant chain section, from Applebee's to Zantiago. I was pleased to see how Boston Market did, but I see the stuffing and gravy on their turkey meal I love costs me an additional 430 calories. There are some nutritional sections, explaining the fundamentals of a good diet, what fiber is all about and some discussion of sodium. It is all very handy, and so I fully recommend "Calorie, Fat & Carbohydrate Counter." Anthony Trendl editor, HungarianBookstore.com
