Spin It: Making Yarn from Scratch: Clear, concise instructions that I could follow. Also includes step-by-step photos of the process that make it a perfect beginners tool & instructions on making your own drop spindles! As a beginning spinner, this is wonderful.
Wonderfull!: As I ventured into the world of spinning there were a many books but none interested me as much as this one. The beautifull color pictures and easy to fallow instructions are the best. even the projects in the back have meaning to the beginner spinner. The best part is that there is instructions on how to make your own spindle!
Terrific Beginners' Book on Making Yarn: I love this book because it is so easy to read and follow the directions. All the instructions are well supported with lots of photos that demonstrate each stage or technique used. The author is obviously a seasoned instructor--the directions are straight forward, problem areas or questions are already anticipated and answered in the book, and suggestions are made on which tools to purchase to start out with, and why they are recommended. The book covers everything from what to do with the wool starting with washing and then covers several ways to prepare and spin the yarn using various types of handspindles. The book does not cover using larger and more expensive pieces of equipment. Instead, it focuses on instructions for the absolute beginner and how to get started with a minimum investment. What's really cool too are the directions on how to make your own handspindle using things from your home! At the back of the book are 4 simple patterns that will put your newly spun yarn and to use immediately. Also listed are resources, magazines, organizations and internet resources involved with spinning. I highly recommend this book for the beginner spinner.
