luv2knit is luv'n to crochet even more!: I ALMOST passed this wonderful book up based on a review that all the designs were using chunky yarns, etc, I really do not have a fondness for really chunky yarns in knit patterns OR crochet patterns,, Well,,I happened to be at a LYS one day, and what do I see sitting on the large oak table? A sweater that was made up SO cute I just had to make it up for my grandson,( it was THAT cute, made up in cotton chenille) I wondered what source this crocheted sweater had come from,,,and lo and BEHOLD(!!) IT was this book! I knew then that I HAD To see this book,,and see if there were any other goodies in it that would be as tempting to make up,,,and,,,YOU BET THERE WAS! ( how about the whole book?) I cant believe I ALMOST passed this one up!( and it would have been too bad as I now have some great new ideas for those 3 grandkids of mine,) One I must make up is a wonderful poncho made of the softest mohair ( for my 2 year old grandaugther) that is then covered in 2 tone dimensional flowers,,it is SO cute! ( a K1,C2 yarn was used but it can easily be replaced with another similar yarn) I cant wait to see her " swish" around in her rose covered poncho! and,,the BEST boys vests and sweaters are in this book! ( and I am NOT kidding!) they really are one of a kind! I look forward to using this book again and again,,, last thing here , there is a childs scarf and hat done up that I decided to make up as an adult size scarf just because I like the color/stitch combination,,,I was really inspired by this book but I wish she would write book that will go up in size as my grandkids grow past size 3 and 4.
you won't be disappointed!: i adore this book. in the last few years there has been a huge increase in the number of great crochet books available and this is among the best of them. there are large, full color pictures of all the styles, and nice glossy pages. the clothes are fabulous. i have about 5 projects lined up, including the "Spice Girl" coat made of Noro varigated yarn (2-1/2" granny squares!!) the Fringed pullover which is a sweater in hdc with granny squares along the bottom, as well as a hat and scarf to match, a delicate, confection-like mohair poncho and many more. this book is a very worthwhile addition for any crocheter, but especially one with kids, or grandkids.
not just another crochet baby book, but a COOK book too !!!: the gr888 thing about this book is that it uses a variety of the newer and sometimes chunkier yarns in its projects. if you know a little about guage and crochet, then it is easy to extrapolate YOUR yarn into a very similar project or pattern and get WONderful results !!! it is often very hard or expensive to duplicate the yarns used in these books, so having the schematics in this book HELPS a lot too. i am very glad i bought this book, as i do lots of crochet for children for my shop on ruby lane, called Lovely Things. there are projects in here for toddlers as well, and many of the patterns come multi-sized. as far as i am concerned, THIS is the best book out there for babies and toddlers !!!
Great book on new crochet styles!!: Wow, I loved this book at the first sight, believe or not. And it turned out as one of the best book I like to use all the time. It has an equal amount of boys' wears as girls', so I could make them for my son and daughter. The instruction and material list are quite clear and simple to follow on this book, and most of all, you can just find any yarn to make those cute outfits for the little ones. Great book!!
Bulky designs: I pre-ordered this book hoping it would provide lots of ideas and inspiration. The designs are bulky and blocky, and I have two boys and I would not put them in any of these designs. I own the Lesley Stanfield and Betty Barnden books and love them.
