[.ca] Vogue Knitting on the Go: Crocheted Scarves (ISBN 1931543429)

what a GREAT little book!:
I wish I could give this little book more than 5 stars! I tried to obtain this before I purchased it at my local public library, unfortunately it was not yet in the system as many of the other small " to go" books were,,, SO, I did purchase this (as I really liked that scarf on the front ,) thinking it would be quite the scarf to wear with my new coat ( as IF I need any more scarves! ) But, this one definately IS different as it appeared to me it creatively used form and texture and skill rather than yarn to make it up,( PLUS I had just seen something similar on a friend who had a new scarf from a New York shopping trip, it wasnt as nice tho,,,) OK,,,,, I did find out once I recieved this little book that it was PACKED FULL ( and I mean FULL!) of very unique scarves and some shawls! Its NO wonder that one reviewer got offers on the spoke shawl in this book it is hands down one of the most unique shawls I have ever laid eyes on! ( I plan to make that one up myself but am going to make the cover scarf first( as planned) The one thing I found out about crochet is its natural affinity towards the making of a plaid like texture without carrying the yarn in difficult ways ( as one would do in knitting,,) The scarf in the book that exemplifies this is wonderful ,( I think for a man in particular) BUT, better yet, what it got me to think about,,, was to do the math,, and make this particular pattern up into a "plaid" afghan. There is much more packed in this tiny book than I could have even imagined and it is clearly one of the best little bargains you will ever find , there is something for everyone! It met my every excpectation and more,,,,,, Its small and I keep it in my crochet bag at all times ( which I carry with me,for you never know if you will be able to get some stitching done while waiting for who knows what) and,,,,,if you are shopping ,,,its small enough to carry into the local YS and pick up some great yarn for a project. There is another to die for project ( really there are a LOT !) that I like,,,its a whisper thin mohair shawl in black /red/hot pink,) sounds awful, but its pretty classly looking and would be great with that perfect " little black dress" or,,,,black jeans and a tank! LOVED THIS BOOK!

Best Vogue Knitting book of this series!:
I am a 40-year knitter but only a novice crocheter. I adore this book and I find it to be the best written of my 10-12 crochet books. The patterns range from elegantly simple to breathtaking. If you are careful all are in the grasp of the determined novice. For example, I made the spoke shawl which is listed as one of the hardest patterns. It was a challenge but do-able. And it is a work of art. I've had offers to buy it when I was wearing it! The thing I like most about this book is that nothing looks amateurish or "beginner". Every stole, shawl and scarf looks great. I do recommend that before beginning a project, you make a trip to the copier to enlarge the instructions. It is a small book and you'll be grateful for the bigger type face as you work your projects.

Great inspiration:
This book revived my interest in crochet after not having done any for at least 10 years. The patterns are creative and I have already crocheted two of the scarves in the book.

Great book for crocheters!:
I bought this book after hearing another crocheter say that the patterns were beautiful. They're trendy, made with interesting yarns usually thought of as "knitter" yarns, and the pictures show off the work well. I was wishing for more after I finished leafing through the book...great job!
