I laughed so hard my stomach hurt: There are so many places in this book that are laugh-out-loud funny. Finally a fresh character who's zany and ballsy as well. Think Lucille Ball meets Laura Croft. Natasha is a female bodyguard who is hired to protect a champion pug who's received a death threat. But the great lure for Natasha is that she has been asked to find out who is threatening the dog. All the great characters from book #1 are along for this wacky ride, and Natasha's and Striker's relationship is heating up big-time. One professional review site rated this book as an incredibly good read and sultry as well. I agree. The Bodyguard and the Show Dog has everything a reader could ask for: romance, mystery, suspense, along with plenty of action, great characters and dialogue that's sweet! Wish I could preorder #3!
Finally It's Here: After reading The Bodyguard, I was anxious for #2 in the series. The Bodyguard was funny and fun to read, but this one tops the first. Professional bodyguard Natasha Chamberlain's self-employed and ready to take on the world. She's a little disappointed her first job will be guarding Chumley, a show dog, but when the dog's owner asks her to find out who's threatening the pug, Natasha signs on in a hurry. Chumley is a handful when his mistress isn't around but Natasha falls in love with the dog and becomes overzealous in her efforts to protect him as well as find out who's threatening him. Her lover, sexy hunk Striker, finds himself bailing Natasha out of trouble time after time, worrying about her wacky methods of investigation, and trying to find a way to convince Natasha the bodyguard field is too dangerous. Pit and Bigun, the dynamic duo, are around for more fun. The chapter about the massage parlor is hilarious! Roger's back in the fray with a girlfriend who seems more interested in his money than Roger. Brutus, Natasha's and Roger's Weimaraner, is around for more fun. I love that dog! Read the professional reviews and you'll see this book is a winner. I'm still laughing over this one and now anxiously await #3.Did I read it involves a rock star? Cool!
Heck, Yeah, Stephanie Plum but Better: Natasha does remind me of Stephanie Plum; a younger, Southern Plum with a harder edge but a softie for those she perceives as innocents, including animals. This book was really funny. Natasha is a female bodyguard hired to protect a pug named Chumley. Chumley can be obnoxious but he's still a cutie and Natasha is determined to make sure nothing happens to him. Along the way, plenty happens to her as she tries to unofficially investigate who could be threatening the dog's life. Along for the ride is Brutus, Natasha's Weimaraner, and my favorite tag-team, Pit and Bigun. Natasha's life mate, hunky Striker, keeps busy getting Natasha out of jail and picking her up at the emergency room. I was disappointed Natasha's mom, menopausal Stevie, wasn't as "visible" in this book as the first. Definitely looking forward to the third in the series. French is a funny writer, and I like her easygoing style.
Stephanie plum? anyone: Don't get me wrong I did enjoy this book. It is just that Natasha seems to get easily in trouble and reminds me a lot of Stephanie Plum. The book is funny but I find it tries too hard. If you enjoyed the first one you will enjoy this one.
