Worth It!: I don't know why publishers don't include pics with their craft books on Amazon (ie: search inside book opportunity) because they'd probably sell more titles - especially the Vogue Knitting on the Go books! Having said that, my copy of this book arrived today and if you're looking for quick gift projects or something pretty for yourself, this book will NOT disappoint! :) Of the 25 scarf patterns, having just flipped through it again for the third time, I don't know where to start. They're all beautiful. If you're looking for some simple scarf patterns, there are a few patterns that incorporate simple crochet stitches (great for beginners!). These scarves are basic looking unisex patterns: A mesh scarf, a basketweave scarf, a cluster stitch scarf... There are also some whimsical patterns that would be great for kids (or kids at heart) including a penguin scarf (scarf is black on one side, white on the other - penguin head on one end, feet on the other), a colorful hand-holding scarf (reminiscent of those paper-folded cut-outs you unfold to find a dozen little figures holding hands - doesn't look very warm, but it's cute), and three or four pretty scarves adorned with crocheted flowers (and you could always stitch the flowers to a favorite hat or set of mittens to match!). There's a "modular scarf" (reminds me of a log cabin quilt), a braided and a beaded scarf, and patterns that will challenge as well. Not all of these scarves are necessarily practical - but they're all pretty fashionable. Something for every personality on your Christmas gift list. Majority of these scarves have a skill level rating of 3 out of 4 (4 being the most difficult - the cover scarf is a level 3). Special note to crafty people: If you're looking to purchase a craft book but you're not sure if you want to buy it or not, in addition to book reviews from other crafters, try searcing for a finished pattern on the net. Try "Google.com" Hit the "Images" option search and type in the title of the book you are looking for (try the title in one search, the name of the author in another search). Some women post their finished craft projects on the internet in their blogs or other sites like Flickr.com so you can see for yourselves what publishers don't show you - completed projects from the pages INSIDE your favorite books! Often times, they'll include the source of their work when they post their finished pictures on the internet - it's fun to see what other people have made from books you're interested in (but can't see inside unless you check the title yourself at a bookstore). :)
