Interesting game with challenging components: This game is very good. Amongst the interesting features: not too much luck involved (no dices, only drawing cards) and short playtime, games are completed in less than an hour. The balance of the game is challenging: you can spend more armies than adversaries to win a round, but you'll have less armies to win the next ones. To win, the game is really about giving and taking and managing your army in the most sensible way. The main advantage of Iliad over other good/better games such as Puerto Rico/Power Grid, is the about 45 minutes required to play a full game. The rules are simple enough for non-regular players too. However, my girlfriend (and probably others) don't like the idea of 'attacking others with armies', which doesn't happen in the two other games mentioned above. Overall, I recommend. Well balanced and challenging, not much luck involved, quick to play, rules easy to assimilate.
