GREAT book:
This book is great! It's not one of the step-by-step guide kinda types, but it goes very in-depth about different inking pens, toning, backgrounds, ect. It's a bit complicated for very new artists, but, it could turn you from a new artist to a manga master! ~_^ it's helped me out alot

This book was a total waste of money!:
This book sucks! It should not be labeled "How to draw Manga" because it doesn't teach you how to draw anything. I am no a manga artist but I would like to get started and I thought I would get this book because it was called "Getting started". I would not recomend this book to anyone. If I could, I would give this book no stars.

Not really good for beginners:
This book is not really a manga getting started book. I don't feel that it explains enough for amateurs; it doesn't have a step by step or enough explanations. This book could maybe help some of those that already got through the amateur phase, but if you're really a beginner I wouldn't recomend it. (...)Maybe after you have mastered everything in these web pages you could buy it.

Excellent, but best bought in its kit, but read on...:
The books explains the use of several tools that are somewhat hard to find in North America so I recommend that this book be bought as part of the How to Draw Manga: Getting Started kit so you will have the tools explained in the book. This helps greatly to get the most out of this book. If you already own this book and have no kits, get the How to Draw Manga Deluxe Official Kit which also has all the tools explained in How to Draw Manga: Getting Started (and you get another book on basic use of the tools for those that may need even more assistance becuase let's face it these tools take getting used to). If you own the above and you find you need even more basic instruction then look into Draw Your Own Manga: All the Basics and Draw Your Own Manga: Beyond the Basics (both by Haruno Nagatomo).
