[.ca] Balance Ball: Lower Body Workout (ISBN 6305895805)

From Amazon.com:
This should be called the Abs, Back, and Lower Body Workout, because the core abdominal and back muscles get a more vigorous workout than the hips, thighs, and buttocks that this video aims to target. Instructor Suzanne Deason--a yoga and Pilates instructor--blends moves inspired by both disciplines with the added abdominal challenge of balancing on the stability ball in this 40-minute video. If this is your first time using a BalanceBall or other stability ball, pay attention as Deason gets you familiar with the ball first. She then shows you different ways to position yourself on the ball while working your buttocks, hips, and thighs. This isn't the best workout available for those muscles specifically, but if you want a routine that also works the abs and strengthens the back, you'll appreciate it. Deason is a soft-voiced, patient instructor, explaining clearly and demonstrating beautifully. The scene is a wood deck overlooking a woods and stream. Quiet music plays in the background. --Joan Price

Quick toning for those whole like their ball....:
If you are new to using your ball for basic toning then this video will be helpful. You should be aware that living arts has another video out that combines lower, abs and upper body workouts all in one tape. I actually prefer that one even though it does not include everything that you find on the individual tapes. I use this tape to see how far I am progressing and about once every two weeks I whip it out on one of the days I do toning exercises. It's great for helping to tone and to give you balance. Balance equals control and if you can control your body through various exercises your overall performance in any exercise is improved along with your posture and general health. That being said if you want a vigorous ball workout you had better skip this one.

Easy moves that take a little work to master.:
On the surface I would have to agree with the previous reviewer that this tape would in fact seem easy. It's only easy however if you are the advanced level of fitness and I doubt those individuals would be interested in a tape such as this. It's good for the intermediate and beginning level person trying to build core body strength. To really do the exercises properly takes a lot of control and technique. In all fairness anyone can do the video all the way through it's what type of form do you use to execute the moves that makes a difference. So I have to disagree with the previous viewers comments that it's too easy. It is relatively short but it touches on all the lower body components. Also know that it follows the standard formula for all living arts videos. Very quiet music and well modulated voices.

Another great Deason workout!:
This is another great workout in Ms. Deason's series. I think this is a great workout for the lower body that is just challenging enough to make you work, but doesn't make you feel overworked.

A Great Idea, A Disappointing Workout:
I eagerly awaiting the arrival of this tape as change of pace from my ususal workouts of strength training, aerobics, and yoga. I was very disappointed as I feel that it provides no challenge whatsoever. If you have never done pilates or yoga and need to work on beginning to balance your core than you may like this tape but if you work out regularly in the above practices, thus having some core strength already, than you will probably be left as unchallenged and bored as I was. If anyone knows of a challenging tape that I could get to utilize this new piece of exercise equipment please let me know, otherwise it will become yet another toy for my 2 kids.
