[.ca] Hr Tapes

H.R. is a Legend in the Reggae and DC Punk Underground!:
H.R. is the legendary lead singer of the reggae band HR (Human Rights) as well as the frontman for Bad Brains, the Washington DC area Punk/Reggae 80's Powerhouse. HR's music is melodic, intoxicating and powerfull. He has inspired bands such as No Doubt and Sublime, even making an appearance on one of Sublimes albums. HR 84-86 Tapes, otherwise known as the "Luv Tapes" is a must have for any serious music afficianado. HR is instrumental in introducing the Reggae scene to America, as well as an originator of the thrash punk scene that ripped Washington DC in the 80s. I saw HR perform with Bad Brains live back in the day. I will never forget the thick smoke that choked the air making it difficult to see the band of beared men with thick, waist length dread locks, wearing the red, yellow and green of the Rasta Religion, OBLITERATING the room with fat, imposibly fast riffs. And then there was HR leading the band with his absolutely unique voice and style, blending insane screaming rebellion with sincere heartfelt religious reggae. There music is unbelievable and is a must buy for anyone remotely interested in reggae or punk. The "84-86 Tapes" album is a perfect example of HR's reggae side. To really get a feel for his historic punk influence, you have to pick up Bad Brains, "Alive" album. You have to at least hear them to understand.
