One of those rare albums I keep listening to repeatedly.:
If you are looking for great singing, forget it. Portia Nelson is way past her prime. But she has one of those rare talents for getting you totally involved in her music. I don't know alchemy she has at her disposal, but she certainly cast a spell over me. By the time the CD is over, you feel you have had an intimate encounter with one of the most special persons ever put on this earth. I've listen to this album repeatedly and continue to enjoy it immensely. Along with Ms. Nelson there are guest appearances by Nancy LaMott, Margaret Whiting, Amanda McBroom, Ann Hampton Calloway, and Deborah Tranelli. If you like music in a cabaret vein, I heartily encourage you to get this CD. For the record, all the songs on this CD were compossed by Ms. Nelson. So practically all the material will be unfamiliar. Don't let that put you off. Many, if not most, of them deserve to be used by other singers.
