The First and Last Good Album This Line-Up Recorded: With REVENGE, Eric Singer proved he was more than worthy to step into the shoes of the late Eric Carr. This album starts off wonderfully, with the guitar riffs introducing "Unholy" getting louder and louder until the vocals begin. I've never heard the original, but "God Gave Rock & Roll To You II", was the first song by KISS I ever heard, and I loved it! Especially when Paul Stanley goes into the spoken part about the "road of rock and roll". Of course, every KISS album has a ballad, and that job is given to Paul Stanley (the band's major balladeer) when he sings "Everytime I Look At You". The album closer, "Carr Jam 1981", proves how great Eric Carr was when he got on the drumstool. REVENGE also has a great cover to boot, and a nice photo of the band decked out in leather on the back. Sadly, REVENGE is the only good album this line-up would record. CARNIVAL OF SOULS (the last to feature this line-up) was awful, with a bad cover showing the band looking like total wimps. And they took that photo in a recording studio, to add insult to injury. If you want to be introduced to the music of KISS, buy this album (the first KISS album I ever bought)!!! If you have CARNIVAL OF SOULS and hate it, use it as a frisbee for your dog.
Revenge is one of the best Kiss albums and one of the best metal albums of all-time.: This album is amazing. Unholy, Every Time I Look At You and Domino are three of the best songs this album. Unholy is an aggressive song. Domino is more laid back but still catchy. Every Time I look at you is a classic power ballad and one of the best power ballads from Kiss. Revenge is a masterpiece. One of the best Kiss albums in a long time.
One Of The Best KISS Albums Without Makeup: When "Revenge" was released in 1992, the KISS family was suffering the death of band member Eric Carr. But did that stop KISS to continue on and be the greatest rock band ever? No. Out of all KISS albums,"Revenge" is one of the best KISS albums without makeup. The opening track is "Unholy" which is the best track on the album with strong lyrics by Gene Simmons and Vinnie Vincent, richly executed guitar work from Bruce Kulick, and electrifying lead vocals by Gene Simmons. Another standout track is "God Gave Rock 'n Roll To You II", the sequel to Argent's song from the 70's. Black 'n Blue fans also may want to check this out: on "Domino", Gene Simmons ripped off the music from the Black 'n Blue classic "Nasty,Nasty" and "Domino" would not have sounded as good without that riff. Paul Stanley has said after the death of Eric Carr, KISS thought about quiting but didn't. Thank You Paul, because if you quit, the greatest rock band of all time would not be around anymore.
IT ROCKS (and the new drummer does too!!): THIS RECORD ROCKS. They brought back in Bob Ezrin to produce it (he did DESTROYER for kiss, and their biggest flop, MUSIC FROM THE ELDER. He also did THE WALL for Pink Floyd). Well the production absolutely ROCKS. By that I mean that the guitars jump out of the speakers and assault you; when the new drummer Eric Singer hits the drums, you can feel it hit your chest. And that is even if you have the volume on 3! The songs are all good for the most part. We all know Simmons can't sing, but that doesn't really stand out here. In fact, this album probably represents his best vocal performances for KISS. And Paul - who CAN sing - does his job very well. Bruce Kulick is a mean guitar player. On this album they include a drum solo that Eric Carr did before he died from cancer. It is great, and definitely worth a listen. There is something nasty about this album. It's like the guys in the band are really on the warpath, really want to make a statement. And they do. TURN IT UP!
I dont wanna romance,I dont wanna dance,i just wanna listen to Revenge: SITUATION;After the death of Eric Carr (rip) KISS had to find another drummer they recruted Eric Singer. They hired Bob ezrin the producer of destroyer.to be their producer in attemp to bring back their former glory. The result is one of KISS`s best albums! They bringed back Gene the price of darkness, not what was on the late 80s stuff.Gene said himself he wasnt there for a good part of the 80s he was having movies projects. You cant compare that late 80 stuff with revenge,he has some of his best songs ever;unholy, domino.KISS got heavy here real good stuff for this album they made their best album in years. SONGS;Awesome stuff Gene has came with amazing songs. My favourite of the album are unholy, domino, god gave rock n roll to you II,i just wanna. They co-wrote i just wanna, unholy and heart of chrome with ex guitarist Vinnie Vincent and the result is amazing his participation on the songs are exellent. The songs are all good i think,no fillers!Just awesome KISS !!Heart of chrome ,paralized, take it off, spit, well every song is great and obviously are no fillers on this record. This goes back to old school KISS kind of thing and if you dont havr this album definetly get it! Gene said `its the most satisfaing record since creatures of the night`.Well it was the last time he had the first single of an album since creatures. The chemestry in the band was real good Eric singer`s arrival did good. ERIC CARR `S DEATH IMPACTS;Eric Carr`s death had impact on KISS and Revenge its bad he died but it focused them to write great songs,i think when you you suffer thats when you write great songs and this record proves it.Gene hadnt look this cool sice a while he looks focused and look like he regained his demon personna on Revenge. The band seems to be focused like they hadnt been in years. VIDEOS;Unholy is really awesome Gene looks possesed ,the video is in black and white wich gives it a cool classic look.I just wanna`s video looks more present after all it has color, and you really think they use the f-word when they dont. The other video was god gave rock n roll to you II in wich Eric Carr appears for the last time in a video. They did include a song made by Eric Carr `carrjam1981`who was supposed to appear on `the elder` its really nice from KISS to add that here.Anyway the songs doesnt have lyrics, guitar at the start then an amzing drum solo by Eric the only one that he recorded proving how good drummer he was. The band made Alive 3 the next year and 4 songs from revenge were included on it ;unholy,i just wanna, domino, god gave rock n roll to you II.Actually there were 5 songs as take it off was on it but they didnt included it for the record. So revenge is a five if you want their heaviest record this is one their heaviest and best. All the songs, guitar, drum sound amazing so buy revenge imediatly if you dont have it.Revenge is hightly recomended.
