Very soothing and pleasing: This particular Grover CD has always been my favorite, although "All My Tomorrows", is a close second. I love the way Grover seems to sooth and entertain at the same time on this CD. I had this on album before they ever made CDs and it was the first Grover CD I looked for when CDs came out. I especially like "Let it Flow (for Dr. J)". It's as smooth as the Doctor himself. For anyone who may have never owned a Grover album, this is a great place to start. One of the finest CDs in my collection. The best way to listen to this CD is with the lights out and cnadles or oil lamps lit. Happy listening. D. Michael Will willm@mc-mc.com
One really great CD.: I bought this album when it was on record before it was made into a CD. As a saxaphonist myself I really do enjoy the mood of this album. In one word this album is SMOOTH. Grover Washington Jr, creats a mood of finess. This album should be shared with a significant other with lights low with wine and the music playing low in the background. Great CD!******
Consistantly riveting from beginning to end!: I remember listening to "Winelight" growing up and wanting to hear it over and over. As an adult, I find that the songs on this album stir the same emotions as they did when I was a child. "Just the Two of Us" is definitely a classic and a powerful display of Mr. Washington's ability to convey "words" through instrumental representation.
Winelight is a passage to a gutbucket funky town soul groove: The album Winelight by the master of funk, Grover Washington Jr, is a wonderful balance of of soul, funk, deep groove, and romance. Grover's playing is always straight from the gut and heart. He can say more in one song than most players can in a whole album. He puts together the best band for this record so everything is tight and funky. A landmark masterpiece. WINELIGHT *****
