[.ca] Beautiful Girls

missing so many key songs:
"Beautiful Girls" is one of my all time favourite movie. One of the many reasons why this is so is because of the classic songs found in the movie. So needless to say I wanted the soundtrack. I was so disappointed, as many of the songs featured in the movie are missing, including "I Run (So Far Away)" by the Flock of Seagulls, "Locomotive Breath" by Jethro Tull, "Fool To Cry" by the Rolling Stones, and others. Not a very good selection.

Sweet and unforgettable:
Beautiful Girls is one of those movies lost in the 90's era. It has essential 90's charm and the essence of 90's dating music. The music stays with you. It's one of the sweetest movies I've ever seen. Deserves to be noted. All the songs in here are playable without the movie. That's quality.

Great soundtrack to a great movie!:
This movie was so good and I liked the music so much I bought the soundtrack. Now it is one of my favorite CDs too! The title song is beautiful, plus it has Kiss and Neil Diamond and Chris Isaak. Others mentioned it not having Flock of Seagulls - to me the most notable missing song was "Fool To Cry" by the Rolling Stones; other than that, it completely playable on all levels!

Great Movie with Great Music TERRIBLE SOUNDTRACK!!!:
This is perhaps my favourite movie of all time, I've watched it at least 20 times, and the music in it is great. Unfortunately I'm sure lack of licenses forced them to gloss over a lot of the great music in it. Maybe I'm biased because I make my living as a musician, but for me great movies are based on great moments, and part of the joy of a soundtrack is reliving those great moments through the song. From this movie, my favourite moments where set against Beth by Kiss, and Graduation Day by Chris Isaacs, which are included. But more importantly, the cast version of Sweet Caroline would've been an improvement since the Neil Diamond version is readily available on hundreds of compilations. Also missing as others have pointed out are Jethro Tull, Greg Kihn, Rolling Stones, and Flock of Seagulls, which are much more a part of the movie than much of what's on the soundtrack. Also the Afgan Whigs songs are garbage and tend to wreck the Uma Thurman date scene. That said, I still see a teary eyed Michael Rappaport ploughing Martha Plimptons driveway every time I hear Beth. And this movie did make a Pete Droge fan out of me, although I would have really rather heard more of the score which featured some brooding variations on the slide guitar theme of the title track. But the Whigs are what you get instead...Blech!

Beautiful Movie:
Beautiful Girls is one of my favorite movies and I think that this movie should have received much more attention than it did. The soundtrack is not bad...but where some movies are dependent upon their soundtrack (think Cameron Crowe movies), and the soundtrack makes you think of the movie, I don't think this was the case with this collection. The best songs are Chris Issak's "Graduation Day", Pete Droge's "Beautiful Girl" and Satchel's "Suffering". And who doesn't love "Beth" and "Sweet Caroline"? But they are missing a song that was played in the movie, I think it may be the Greg Khin band, and not remembering the name of the damn song has plagued me. I bought the soundtrack in hopes of getting that song and then it wasn't on there. Bad Miramax...be ashamed. But please go rent the movie, for it is definitely a 5* cinema feature. Buy the disc, too.
